Developing your Career

Therapy dogs have gentle, friendly temperaments and they are trained to provide comfort to people who are hospitalised or live in residential or care settings. Pets as Therapy (PAT) is an example of an organisation that utilises therapy dogs.

As a Dog Assistance trainer, you will help them to provide therapeutic visits to hospitals, hospices, nursing and care homes, special needs schools and a variety of other venues. Their volunteers organise these visits with their own friendly, temperament tested and vaccinated dogs and cats.

The Level 3 Diploma Animal Assisted Intervention qualification is the perfect type of training to prepare you for this career.
